Convert cooked portions to raw or dry equivalents using your actual batch weights, or convert in reverse. Free, no signup.

How it works

Measure the same batch before and after cooking. A cooked portion maps to raw weight as cooked portion × raw batch ÷ cooked batch. For the reverse direction, raw portion × cooked batch ÷ raw batch gives cooked weight.

Worked example

A 300 g dry batch weighs 900 g after cooking. A 150 g cooked portion corresponds to 150 × 300 ÷ 900 = 50 g dry. The measured batch ratio is 3 g cooked per 1 g dry.

Example values are illustrative, not nutrition data for a specific product.

Getting a useful result

There is no universal raw-to-cooked factor in this tool. It uses your measured batch and assumes portions represent it evenly. Added ingredients or discarded food affect interpretation. Weight equivalence does not establish calorie or nutrient retention, particularly when fat or liquid is discarded.

Use the preparation state and serving basis shown on your label. The FDA Nutrition Facts guide explains how label nutrients relate to servings. Our calculator methodology documents the arithmetic and limitations.
